Game Design ?????

A spreadsheet with a piece of code on it

Before taking the time to read these articles. I thought to myself; What is a game? I thought I knew but boy was I wrong! Games are a lot more complexed than I thought. Not that they're very confusing when developing them but there is a lot that goes into the thought process.

A few of these components would be: Whats the aim of the game, is there conflict, is there a storyline, etc? The aim of the game would usually be to get from one part of the map to the other part. Conflict would usually be is there spots that can help or harm the player. Meanwhile storyline just means is there a definite start and a definite finish. I read a lot about this and more by following the link:

There is also 4 different techniques to come up with ideas. These 4 methods are: -Concentration

                                                                                                                                 -Brainstorming

                                                                                                                                 -Scamper

                                                                                                                                 -Ramsey

Concentration:

Concentration is coming up with ideas without trying. Basically your ideas you had already and new ideas by changing your ideas and going for walks at unusual times for you. This would help me because I go for walks when I take study breaks and to get some fresh air.

Brainstorming:

This method has diverging and converging stage. What do I mean by this. You are in groups and you flesh out ideas. Then you pick one out of all them ideas and then flesh out possibilities of that idea and then finalise it.

Scamper:

This involves a lot of method but they all primarily focus on editing or modify one part of the game whether that be the mechanics of a character or the enviroment. This is meant to show how one small different can change a game completely.

Ramsey:

This method is definitely the most difficult method which is why it is only used for really specific ideas. Its where you are given and idea and information and you really have to study and look into this information to truly do what your director is asking of you.. I learned this from the site:

When you are are developing a game, there is a few main components to make it good.

Interactiveness:

Interactiveness is important but it makes a game good because it is interactive. Interactiveness could be as simple as solving a puzzle or as complexed as a boss battle in a game like "Dark Souls".

Goals:

This would also be called objectives in a game. This could be like an assignment you have to do in college. It has the same principles like:The instructions on what you have to do and why you have to do it. And sometimes you even have a time limit to do these goals.

Struggle:

The struggle would be like the challenges you have to overcome. These could be like: giving a question and you have 2 chooses. Choose the right answer you win. That would be a struggle you have to overcome.

Structure:

A game have to have a good structure to be usable. This would involve the idea being well thought out and the game being well built.

I learned this from the article at:

This is what I learned this week.
